Dallatu Succeeds Dallatu

On April 30^th, 2023, the family of His Excellency, the former Governor of Katsina State, Alhaji Aminu Bello Masari, made history as the Katsina Emirate Council honored it with another traditional title.

This time, one of the former First family’s son, Muhammad Aminu Bello Masari was turbaned as Dallatun Magajin Garin Katsina, stepping into the big shoes of his father who holds the title of Dallatun Katsina.

Muhammad’s coronation which took place at the Palace of Magajin Garin Katsina, Alhaji Aminu Abdulmumini Kabir Usman left no one in doubt as to the significance of the colorful event that attracted the creams of Katsina State and beyond. 

Besides being the first time in the history of the ancient for a single family to receive the double title of Dallatu, the coronation is a validation of the sound parental mentoring that Muhammad received as to be recognized at such a tender age by his community.

It signifies the status of Muhammad as a good Ambassador of the Aminu Bello Masari family for recognizing the importance of service to his community and people as a whole.

Aged 19 years, the young Muhammad imbibed the tenets of leadership early in life that marked him out as a potential leader per excellence. He is humble, generous, and unassuming.

Despite his privileged status as son of the former Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, and now governor, he never looked down on other children of his age who are from poor or underprivileged backgrounds.  He mixed freely, rejoices and grieves with them on happy and sad moments respectively.

As a student of the elite Tulip International School in Abuja, the young Muhammad related quite well with all his peers regardless of their parental backgrounds. This simplicity endeared him to many including his friends, siblings, uncles, and aunties.

Therefore when the Katsina Emirate Council few weeks ago announced plans to turban him as the Dallatun Magajin Gari, it never came as a surprise to his parents, friends, and siblings who admire Muhammad’s humility and open mindedness in dealing with people.

Newsweek Nigeria joins other friends, relatives, and well-wishers in congratulating the Katsina State First family and young Muhammad on this well-deserved recognition. Allah ya ja zamanin Dallatun Magajin Gari.
